This blog is about haiku. A classical haiku counts 5-7-5 syllables. Chèvrefeuille (the pseudonym of Kristjaan Panneman, a Dutch haiku poet) however writes his haiku in the Kanshicho-style. In the Kanshicho-style the classical syllable count isn't used. Matsuo Basho (1644-1694), a haiku poet, wrote his haiku in Kanshicho-style for several years, but he returned to the classical way of haiku writing. !!! Anonymous comments will be seen as SPAM !!!.

Artificial flower, an impromptu haiku
A few days ago I shot this photo and it inspired me to write the following haiku, just an impromptu verse.
bumblebee visits
an artificial flower
on search of honey
It was really a joy to watch this bumblebee it stayed on this artificial flower for a long time. I had a few more photo's of it, but they weren't good enough to use.
Well ... see you next time, with another nice haiku I hope.

A Single Leaf, an Impromptu verse
I have written an Impromptu verse ... I saw a single leaf dancing through the streets. It's was a very stormy day today so the last leaves are blown away by that strong wind. But this one single leaf touched me. And I wrote the following haiku on that event:
one single leaf
dances on the shoulder of the wind -
prima ballerina
Isn't it a wonderful little gem? This haiku feels just good and strong. What do you think about this one?

Early Sunrise (impromptu-verse)
Today I was very early awake. After a cup of coffee I went outside and saw a wonderful sunrise. The clouds looked like fingers and were pink colored, it looked just like they sprouted from the horizon. So I had to write a haiku about it.
early sunrise
pink cloud fingers sprouting
at the horizon
Isn't it a beauty?

New Moon
![]() |
Source: New Moon |
So today I am a bit sad, because she ... our beloved moon ... I can't see. Tears tickling behind my eyes, but I have to be strong ... I am a man ... and a man doesn't cry (smiles). Just kidding I am not such a guy. When I am sad and I feel that I have to cry ... well than tears will be scattered.
where is she?
looking for her but can't find her
new moon
new moon
she, our moon will grow again
a new lives cycle
Every New Moon is a new beginning. She will grow again and will bring joy again when she grows to her full sight.
Namaste.

An Impromptu Verse
Sometimes I write 'Ins Blauen Hinein' a haiku and today I love to share one of these Impromptu verses. Just written today when I sat on the terrace. Maybe this is what haiku means ... haiku is a moment as short as a pebble thrown in a pond ... this was such a moment.
It was almost noon and when I looked up to the sky I saw the sun and the moon standing together at the sky. This brought me the following haiku:
already noon
still together the sun and the moon -
ah! what a joy
I like this one.
Isn't it awesome ...
