the sweet coolness of silk blankets
shared with my love

Mayby it's to sensual, but it was the first thing I thought about when I was preparing the episode on 'silk'.

Haiku My Heart

It's a long time ago that have posted a haiku for Haiku My Heart, but I have to share this haiku somewhere ....

close to my heart
memories of my joyful youth
on a sacred place

hands before my face
tears on her grave

Isn't it a sweet, sweet scented flower? I can smell her perfume. Triggers memories of my grandmother.

Tackle It Tuesday, Tea

Also published and shared with: Haiku My Heart

Dear Haijin,

A week has gone by ... time flies ... and you can't stop it. So a new Tackle It Tuesday is on. The theme for this week is tea. Tea ... a lovely hot drink, but also as ice-tea a good drink. Tea is worth a ceremony as we can see in classical Japan.
In Japan (even now) the tea ceremony is wonderful. I have once written a haibun on the tea ceremony of Rykyu, unfortunately that haibun I have written in my maiden language Dutch. The tea ceremony is full of spirituality and aesthetic. Here below I have enclosed a video on the Tea ceremony. Enjoy watching it.

Tea ... what about tea? Just tea ... enjoy it ... you.re so blessed when you drink tea (it's not my kind of drink, I am more of coffee). Take a cup and be inspired to write a haiku.

This prompt will stay on 'till Monday October 8th 11.59 PM

By the way please visit my new weblog Carpe Diem, seize the day. It's a new daily haiku meme and I will give every day a new theme/prompt.

Check out this: Hyde Park has a item about me in their Participating Talent Show. Really awesome.

September Heights, day 23 Hummingbird

Inspired by the theme at

Also published and shared on: Haiku My Heart

What a lovely prompt we have today ... Hummingbird ... It's the smallest bird on Mother Earth's surface. They are such wonderful creatures in so much different colors. I have searched the Internet for a few wonderful pictures of the Hummingbird.

his wings waving away the wind
looks for nectar

what a pretty sight
a hummingbird searching for nectar
Lily's cup

a passionflower
opens her heart with golden nectar

Well ... what a wonderful creature it is. The Hummingbird ... totally one with his nature and his Creator.
See you tomorrow.

PS.: I couldn't retrieve the sources of the pictures. If you are one of the copyright owners of these pictures please let me know ... meanwhile I thank you for using the pictures.

Tackle It Tuesday, Holy Isle

Also shared with Rebecca's Haiku My Heart

Dear Haijin,

As I told already, in my last week's Tackle It Tuesday episode, the theme for this week's Tackle It Tuesday is Holy Isle. In the preview-post of Tackle It Tuesday I have told you something about Holy Isle. Holy Isle is situated on the west coast of Scotland. It is a Buddhistic island since the early 90th. Holy Isle has a wonderful history.
The earliest recorded name for Holy Isle was Inis Shroin, which is old Gaelic for 'Island of the Water Spirit'.

After the time when the Celtic Christian saint St. Molaise lived on the island at the end of the 6th century, it became known as Eilean Molaise, which is Gaelic for 'Molaise's Island'. This name gradually evolved over the course of centuries until early in the 19th century the island became generally known as Holy Isle and the village on the other side of the bay became known as Lamlash. (For more on Holy Isle's history go to: history )

Holy Isle has a wonderful environment with lots of different flowers and plants. Also the fauna of the Isle is wonderful. On their website you can find a lot of information on Holy Isle's nature.

I was touched by the so called 'painted rocks'. 'Painted Rocks' are rocks on which the monks on Holy Isle have painted pictures of deities or gods or spirits,

Dusum Kyenpa, the first Karmapa in the Kagyan tradition.
He lived from 1110-1193

So I found my inspiration for this week's theme Holy Isle on their website.

Share your haiku on the theme Holy Isle. Use the given information or let it inspire you. Enjoy the fun and write your classical or non-classical haiku.

This theme stays on 'till August 6th 11.59 PM. If you have a thought for a new theme please share it with me.

Next week's theme will be 'back to basic', in a new Tackle It Tuesday Preview I will tell you more about the  new theme, but for now ... have fun with this week's theme 'Holy Isle' ...

Please leave a comment after linking ... thank you ...

Haiku Heights April Challenge, day 6 "hope"

Also shared on: Haiku My Heart

Haiku My Heart

Today's prompt is hope it's a nice theme especially as we see in which time we are living. Today it is Good Friday (as we call it here in the Netherlands, it's the friday before Easter) and Easter stands in my opinion for Hope, new life and Spring. Spring the season of hope. Mother Earth is coming alive again. Everywhere I look flowers are blooming, trees are blooming, trees began to grow and you can see that nice touch of young green on the bare branches, buds beginning to open, birds and all other animals begin to reproduce ... it's all new life, it's really spring. And that's a wonderful theme for haiku. So this is my contribution for todays prompt.

Blooming cherry trees at Lake Biwa (Japan)
spring is here again
Mother Earth's face changes
becomes alive

becomes alive
our Lord Jesus Christ has risen
conquered death

conquered death
all nature's coming to bloom
bringing new hope

bringing new hope

spring is here again

Well .... see you tomorrow.

Emerging music and haiku

For

And their Thursday Think Tank on "music".

And also published for: Haiku My Heart

Music was always my first love until I discovered haiku. Music became less interesting and writing haiku became my passion. In this weblog I will try to combine both. So I will write a few new haiku (impromptu) with music (or an association on it) as theme.

the sound of nature
rustling leaves, singing cicadas
music of Mother Earth

music of Mother Earth
the cherry blossoms coming to bloom
without sound

without sound
winter departs on bare feet
snowdrops blooming

snowdrops blooming
the drizzling spring rain
the sound of nature

Well I think that I have succeeded in emerging both passions.

Haiku My Heart

Also published for: The Poetry Pantry #92 of Poets United

Haiku My Heart

I almost forgot to write a haiku for Haiku My Heart this week because I had a very busy week at work. So I am a few days late but I had to write a new haiku my heart. This week was very busy. At my work in the local hospital I had a few patients that were given bad news. They had all cancer and it's my task, as an oncology nurse, to help them through this very bad news and telling them the possibility's for cure and care. It was a tough week that I can tell you. Very heavy sometimes, but I am always happy as I see how my patients flourish again when they hear what the possibility's are. Of course sometimes there is no cure ... that's giving me tears and sadness ... to be powerless to help them.
Under such conditions ... I am so glad that I have my haiku to write. So this week's Haiku My Heart haiku is inspired on my work as an oncology nurse.

tears falling
on silk pillows
life has gone

leaving me powerless
such sadness

such sadness
on this grave of my brother

Haiku My Heart, the blossoms return

Also published for: The Gooseberry Garden's Poetry Picnic week 27

Haiku My Heart

The blossoms return! Yes ... I have seen that. In my garden the first cherry blossom has been spotted, so yes the blossoms return ... finally Spring is coming after a long cold winter. As I walk through the park that's near my house I see the crocuses bloom and the narcissus, but also the flowering Trees are coming in bloom. It's a wonder .... I love the sight of these fragile blossoms and flowers and all the pretty colors. It makes me very happy.
Today I have written a blog about the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival it's a great festival in Vancouver (Canada) to celebrate their 40.000 cherry trees coming in bloom. You can read that blog here They have a haiku invitational to write haiku about cherry blossoms. I have contributed two haiku for that haiku invitational.

Today's Haiku My Heart haiku is about cherry trees. It's an (as I call it) an Impromptu verse, just written without a 'trigger' to write it.

ah! sweet perfume
of the young cherry trees
first time blooming

on an old branch
a young sprout of cherry
blooming again

See you next week ... for another Haiku My Heart

Haiku My Heart

Haiku My Heart

Several weeks ago I discovered the Haiku My Heart weblog and I was in love with that weblog. I love to write today for Haiku My Heart a few haiku with Light as theme.

in pale moonlight
the young cherry blossoms
so fragile

at sunrise
the mysterious line between night and day
lightens sunflowers

the day has ended
in reddish and yellowish light
young Honeysuckle

I am glad that I have written this set of haiku (in the so called Kanshicho-style) to bring a little bit of light to Haiku My Heart.

Blessed Be,

Sensational Haiku Wednesday, Love

Join the fun!

Also published for: Haiku my Heart

A new sensational haiku wednesday. In this week of St. Valentine the prompt for this week is "Love". Love ... the most needed energy for every one. Without love no life I use to say. And I think ... lots of others do think the same.
Unconditional love for everyone and everything is, in my opinion, the way to make our planet a better place to live. So let's go and write a few haiku on love.

red roses blooming
the smile of my lovely wife
my heart is pounding

love naturally
Mother Earth's wonderful face
blooming in Spring

Well ... I think this haiku triplet on love ... has become wonderful. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Sincerely,

Haiku my Heart

I ran into a wonderful weblog Recuerda mi Corazon on which Haiku my Heart is a way to participate. In this I love to share some of my haiku. Maybe I will do that sometime again so I have chosen a image to use in the contributions for Haiku my Heart.

Haiku my Heart a new challenge I think, but I have to try ... don't you think?

unconditional
the love between swans
firmly as a rock

early spring
fragile blossoms bloom
what a party

at the seashore
between foot prints of man
shell of a hermit

It's was great to participate.

Sincerely,
