Also published for: Poets United's The Poetry Pantry

There we are again for a new day in our April Challenge of Haiku Heights. This day it's all on clarity, the prompt given by Becca Givens, clarity (in dutch helderheid) has a few synonyms for example brightness, purity and serenity. All words which I can use for today's haiku. So lets start.

bright sunlight
reflects on the white wall
shadows moving

shadows moving
making my kids anxious
I caress them

I caress them
in their purity and serenity
my adult kids

my adult kids
standing in our garden
bright sunlight

Haiku Heights April Challenge, day 7 "forgive"

Also shared on:

For the Poetry Pantry # 96 :

Day 7 of the Haiku Heights April Challenge is on. Today's prompt forgive is a tough one. But it's a prompt which is especially for this time of year. Why? Because it's Easter. Today it's Silent Saturday (as we call the saturday before Easter) and it's a day of contemplation and meditation.

Today I will try that unique 3-5-3 haiku form.

forgive
meditate today
roses bloom

roses bloom
between bare branches -
broken wings

broken wings
a little bird flew against the window
forgive me please

forgive me please
I have broken the crystal vase
of my grandmother

of my grandmother
I found a youth photo
she was a beauty

she was a beauty
the rose I broke today
forgive me

forgive me
with tears in her eyes
she asked me

she asked me
deep from the heart
forgive

See you again tomorrow.

Haiku My Heart

Also published for: The Poetry Pantry #92 of Poets United

Haiku My Heart

I almost forgot to write a haiku for Haiku My Heart this week because I had a very busy week at work. So I am a few days late but I had to write a new haiku my heart. This week was very busy. At my work in the local hospital I had a few patients that were given bad news. They had all cancer and it's my task, as an oncology nurse, to help them through this very bad news and telling them the possibility's for cure and care. It was a tough week that I can tell you. Very heavy sometimes, but I am always happy as I see how my patients flourish again when they hear what the possibility's are. Of course sometimes there is no cure ... that's giving me tears and sadness ... to be powerless to help them.
Under such conditions ... I am so glad that I have my haiku to write. So this week's Haiku My Heart haiku is inspired on my work as an oncology nurse.

tears falling
on silk pillows
life has gone

life has gone
leaving me powerless
such sadness

such sadness
on this grave of my brother
tears falling

Until next time

The Haiku Challenge day 19

Written for The Haiku Challenge 2012 - Day 19 – February 19th – Theme: Seasons Type: Kigo

Well today's challenge is fun. Write a haiku about your favorite season and use the classical Japanese Kigo (or season words).

Also published for: Poets United The Poetry Pantry #88

I haven't a favorite season, but if I have to say a favorite season than it should be spring or autumn. Why? Spring because of the feeling to be reborn and Autumn because of the moon. The moon of autumn is, in my opinion, the most beautiful.
For today's challenge I will write haiku about every season (including the classical Japanese season New Year).

New Year:

New Year's eve
through the bare branches
the wind as always

Spring:

after the darkness
I am longing for the young leaves
and cherry blossoms

the blooming cherries
watching them in the moonlight
it's magical

under the cherry trees
a gathering of families
cherry petals fall

Summer:

leaving the beach
sands on our backs and buttocks
at sunrise

the shortest night
a shallow depression
and used condoms

after the heat
cooling down in the rain
almost naked

the cool rain
washes away the moisture
of the hot night

Autumn:

crystal vase
all colors of the rainbow
chrysanthemums bloom

what a sad day
drizzling rain and dark clouds
colorful leaves

behind the clouds
hides the almost full moon
the scent of rain

cloudless sky
at midnight the blood moon (*)
breathtaking

(*) the full moon of October, also called Harvest Moon

Blood Moon
weeping willow
in the autumn sunlight
a golden tree

Winter:

snow falls
on colored leaves
departing autumn

Buddha
covered with fresh snow
still smiles

deep frozen lake
the sound of scratching skates
children's laughter

snow melts
the crow moon (*) rises
at last spring

(*) the full moon of March is called Crow Moon or Lenten Moon

Crow Moon
as always
seasons come and go
the moon stays the same

Sorry ... as you can see I was inspired. Hope you enjoyed reading this series of haiku on seasons. :-)

See you tomorrow again ... be inspired and write your verses right from your heart.

The Haiku Challenge, day 7

Written for The Haiku Challenge 2012 - Day 7 – February 7th – Theme: Life Form: Paint/Write your Imagination on an Image for the theme.

Also published for the Poetry Pantry

LIFE What about life. Life is wonderful, I love the nature around me, I love the people who are in my direct surroundings. I love the way birds sing and flowers and trees are blossoming in Spring. I love summer, when the sun stands high on the sky I love to be outside in nature. In autumn I love the fruits nature is giving us. And winter ... well I love winter but it is not my favorite season.
For today I have to write a haiku on LIFE accompanied by a picture or photo ... a Haiga.

Well I have to look around in all the pictures I have and write a haiku by it. I will try to paint with my words and I hope I will succeed.

cherry blossom blooms
so fragile, so wonderful
that's my life

Another one:

the cobweb trembles
blue butterfly struggles
to stay alive

'till tomorrow :)

The Poetry Pantry, new haiku

For Poets United, the Poetry Pantry:

A new series of haiku. Well ... finally my country (The Netherlands) have winter weather. Strong frost and snow fall. So at last winter has come to the Low Lands. So I thought to write a few haiku on snow ...

first snow of the year
covers fragile blossoms
tears in my eyes

such a sad event
young cherry blossoms frozen
in a cold spring night

Credits: Cherry Blossom in Snow

And at last another haiku, but this one is inspired on a well known haiku by Matsuo Basho:

autumn evening
a crow perched
on a withered bough

I wrote:

is that a crow
in the bare branches?
it's just black plastic

I loved doing this again of course and looking forward to your comments on this series.

Sincerely,

Haiku Heights, prompt "tiptoe"

Also published for:

Such a wonderful idea this challenge of Haiku Heights. An every week challenge with every week a new prompt. This week's prompt is "tiptoe". I have searched some websites to find synonyms for tiptoe, and I found the next ones: 'in the air' 'night walk' 'pussy foot'. I will use these I think, because I have nothing with 'tiptoe', but ... never say never.

high up in the air
the skylarks singing their song
my heart is listening

on pussy foot
the young boy is walking through
the girls dressing room

every day night walk
through the neighborhood
a Nightingale

dancing swans
on the lake next to the concert hall
tiptoeing love

Mm ... I am glad this weeks prompt has inspired me. It was tough, but also a wonderful challenge.

'till next week :)

Sincerely,
