Carpe Diem Summer Retreat 2016 (20) silence (a haiga)

Dear friends,

Today's submission for the Carpe Diem Summer Retreat is one from my archives, it's a haiga which I created back in 2006. It's one of the first haiga which I made. It shows a Japanese Garden, which once was part of an exhibition of agriculture.

Soaking Wet

Santoka Taneda (1882-1940)
Good day my friends and followers,

This is supposed my weekend off from my duties as a host at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai (CDHK), but ... a weekend without haiku isn't possible ... and while Jen of Blog It Or Lose It is being the host for CDHK this weekend I just had to respond on our Carpe Diem Special of today.
As you maybe know every month we have a featured haiku-poet at CDHK and this month that's Santoka Taneda. Taneda had a very special way of composing his haiku and I love to try that way too. His style than is now known as 'free-style' haiku and that means ... no classical rules even no kigo (seasonword) or the 5-7-5 syllables structure.

In today's Carpe Diem Special the following haiku by Santoka Taneda is our source of inspiration:

shigurete sono ji ga yomenai michishirube

A wonderful haiku I think and a "real" Taneda as you can see ... no 5-7-5, no kigo, no kireji ... And now it's my task to write/compose a haiku in the same sense, tone and spirit as the one by Taneda. So here is my attempt to write a "free-style" haiku like Santoka Taneda.

I think this has become a nice haiga and the haiku I composed is very much in tune with the "free-style" of Santoka Taneda. And as you can see I haven't used a kigo, kireji or 5-7-5 syllables.

See you later ....

Raindrops, a haiga

Dear friends and followers,

As you all know I have a daily haiku-meme at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai. It's really my joy to host that daily meme and I do like to publish so now and than here in response on the prompts at Carpe Diem Haiku Kai (CDHK).

This month at CDHK is all about haiga, picture and haiku, and today the prompt is "raindrops" and I love to share a haiga here with this prompt as theme. (Of course I will link it to Carpe Diem Haiku Kai, but that's possible tonight at 7.00 PM (CET)

A wonderful haiga, as I may say that (a little immodest) but the picture screamed to be used as a haiga and so this is what I came up with.

Have nice weekend,

Namaste,

Chèvrefeuille

The Haiku Challenge, day 7

Written for The Haiku Challenge 2012 - Day 7 – February 7th – Theme: Life Form: Paint/Write your Imagination on an Image for the theme.

Also published for the Poetry Pantry

LIFE What about life. Life is wonderful, I love the nature around me, I love the people who are in my direct surroundings. I love the way birds sing and flowers and trees are blossoming in Spring. I love summer, when the sun stands high on the sky I love to be outside in nature. In autumn I love the fruits nature is giving us. And winter ... well I love winter but it is not my favorite season.
For today I have to write a haiku on LIFE accompanied by a picture or photo ... a Haiga.

Well I have to look around in all the pictures I have and write a haiku by it. I will try to paint with my words and I hope I will succeed.

so fragile, so wonderful
that's my life

The Haiku Challenge, day 3

Everything can be the source for inspiration, such as a wonderful poem, a painting or a song. But also a wonderful photograph. For this day of The Haiku Challenge the source of inspiration is a wonderful photo by Anand.

I wonder if I can write a haiku on this photo and make it a 'photo-haiga'.

This was a tough one. I came up with the following haiku:

strong hands praying
on the corner of the street -
God be with you

This one feels good it has a positive energy according to the photo.

I have made several 'photo-haiga' in the past years, one of them I love to publish here. This one I made with the Benidorm (Spain) Cross as inspiration.

See you again next day ... for a new haiku for the Haiku Challenge 2012.

Like a phoenix

is blooming again
