Ugly Moon?

Have to share this with you all. When I cycled to my work last night I saw an egg-shaped moon hiding behind a veil of clouds and that brought me the next haiku:

egg-shaped moon
hides behind a veil of clouds -
does she feels ugly?

does she feels ugly?
our princess of the night
egg-shaped moon

Isn't it a strange scenery?

ON BARE FEET, a haibun (reprise)

On Bare Feet

I wrote the following haibun. (Prose and Poetry united).

On Bare Feet in the Snow

I love walking on bare feet. So I do that a lot. As I come home from work the first thing I do is pull off my shoes and socks. It feels good. The air around my feet that have been enclosed in shoes the whole day. Even outside I am walking on bare feet.
Today I realized that I was on bare feet when I walked outside in the snow to close the fence. It’s so common to me to walk on bare feet.
In Summer’s, when our dog was still alive, I walked him on bare feet. I love the contact with Mother Earth as I am walking on bare feet through the grass, the forest or where ever. It feels like I am a kid again. When I was a baby I laid in my pram with bare feet. In that time I was pure and didn’t know much of the world. I didn’t know about haibun and haiku or what form of poetry.
Now … years later I experience that same pureness and not knowing when I walk on bare feet. Love that. Once again I have to walk on bare feet through the snow to close the fence again. The mailman has not closed it. When I have closed the fence I open the mail. In one of them I see a wonderful Anton Pieck card, such a nostalgic card. A little boy, poorly dressed, walking on bare feet in the snow and throwing snowballs. He laughs and his face is healthy red by the cold and the joy of throwing snowballs.

Dear friends on Haiku My Heart,

arousing my senses
the sweet coolness of silk blankets

Mayby it's to sensual, but it was the first thing I thought about when I was preparing the episode on 'silk'.

Haiku My Heart

It's a long time ago that have posted a haiku for Haiku My Heart, but I have to share this haiku somewhere ....

close to my heart
memories of my joyful youth
on a sacred place

on a sacred place
hands before my face
tears on her grave

Credits: Fresias

tears on her grave -

the sweet perfume of fresias
her beloved flower

her beloved flower
every anniversary of her death
a fresh bouquet

Isn't it a sweet, sweet scented flower? I can smell her perfume. Triggers memories of my grandmother.

Namaste

Haiku Heights # death

Inspired by the theme at

A new week of haiku writing has gone with the wind ... several weeks ago I posted a post here for Haiku Heights. I haven't had time to participate in this weekly haiku meme for a few weeks mostly during lack of time and the time I spent on my own daily haiku meme Carpe Diem but I had to write a haiku for this weeks prompt 'death':

frost on the branches
the cobweb crystalizes in the sunlight
a death spider

a death spider
hanging in it's crystal cobweb
food for the birds

Haiku Heights #200, wish

Inspired by the theme at

I haven't had time to participate the last weeks in Haiku Heights, but this week's prompt I couldn't let go. This week the prompt is WISH and that's of course something for this time of year.

Dragon's departure
entering the year of the Snake -
good wishes

Year of the Snake (2013)

Some background:

Sign of the Snake

According to ancient Chinese wisdom, being born in the year of the Snake is a good omen; it means your family will never starve. Whether this is intended metaphorically -- because the snake is a great mediator and therefore good at business -- or literally -- because a Snake would sacrifice his many possessions to pay for food -- is often debated. In either case, it is clear that a Snake is considered a good provider as a result of his wisdom. This wisdom, however, can on occasion become cunning trickery, as a Snake is known to plot to get exactly what he wants. The Snake is also profoundly private, and as such, as known as a poor communicator -- possessive of both his words and his emotions.

Character Traits
: Snake

Positive
: Wise, creative, shrewd, responsible, purposeful
Negative: Loner, distrustful, suffocating, cold

Well ... maybe 'till next week.

Tackle It Tuesday, Christmastime

Dear haijin, visitors and travelers,

During lack of time I wasn't able to publish our new Tackle It Tuesday earlier this week. So this Tackle It Tuesday will stay on  until Tuesday January 1st 2013 11.59 AM (CET).
In this month of Holidays I am glad to publish this episode on 'Christmastime'. Christmas a wonderful feast in which we remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ and Peace all over the world.

Merry Christmas
and
a Happy New Year

Also in this time of year we have snow, frost, but also warm summerdays depending from the place you're living. On my Carpe Diem weblog we have a prompt on Year Markets for today. All over the world these Markets are organized to give you a Christmas feeling. On these markets you can buy Christmas decorations, food, sweets and so on. Wandering over these markets accompanied by Christmas Carols it's really a joy and it brings me already the Christmas feeling and of course decorating the Christmas tree (as you can see above).
Every year again ... we are singing carols about peace on earth ... and every year again ... Peace all over the world isn't becoming true. We have to dream on ... maybe once ... Peace on earth will be ...

Cheers!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmastime and a wonderful New Year.

Have fun, dear friends, be inspired and share your haiku on Christmastime with Tackle It Tuesday. If you like writing and composing haiku? Well .... visit my Carpe Diem weblog and share your haiku on the given prompt. It's really fun to visit Carpe Diem's daily haiku meme. Feel free and welcome to visit and share.

Troiku: a double peony

Troiku: a double peony.

Some time ago I wrote a Carpe Diem Preview on a new creative form of writing haiku, the troiku. This post is another try on this new creative way of writing haiku. I love the way how this new form asks me to think about writing haiku. It's, in my opinion, a great way of writing haiku and I enjoyed writing this post very much.

The 'sleigh' is inspired on a haiku by Issa (a classic haiku master) and it was a Carpe Diem Special a few days ago.
