Poets United, Wonder Wednesday #3

   

 Good day dear visitors,

Another Wonder Wednesday at Poets United. Last week I tried this for the first time with a haiku on 'tea-ghost' and this week I will try it again. This week it's all about changing yourself, be yourself and try something new therefor I have chosen to write an Acrostic Haiku.

Haiku writing, composing is a wonder. To say a lot with so less words ... it's not only a wonder, it's an adventure. In our modern times we have such much different haiku forms and that's why I call haiku ART ... we have Pi-Ku, Naisaiku, Cascading Haiku, Non-traditional Haiku and last but not least we have the Acrostic Haiku.

I wasn't aware of all those haiku forms 'till last February. I participated in the February Haiku Challenge of Few Miles (the website of SiS), a daily haiku meme in which we had to write haiku on a given prompt or theme. In that challenge I had to conquer also other forms of haiku. The toughest one was the Acrostic Haiku. I had never heard of that form so I had to search for information about the Acrostic Haiku. I found an article about that form on DevianArt I read it again and again ... it was really a struggle, but I had to try and well ... I did. I came up with the following Acrostic Haiku in which POETRY is the Acrostichon and EAST the Liaison. I think you can understand why I chose those two words (smiles).

Well ... I can tell you it wasn't an easy one to compose, but I was proud that I had crafted my first Acrostic Haiku ever. It was hard to write it and after writing this one I concluded that I never will write, compose an Acrostic Haiku again.

Until now I didn't write an Acrostic Haiku again, but ... well see for yourself.

Under the umbrella
Tears of Joy

Music of the Swan lake
Newly weds

In this Acrostic Haiku you can see that sadness and joy can walk together. In nature all is music. Autumn stands for decay and detachment as Swan Lake does also, but love conquers everything.
In this Acrostic Haiku I have tried to compare Autumn's falling and dancing leaves with a ballerina in her Tutu dancing Swan Lake.
I used Autumn as the Acrostichon and Tutu (a skirt worn as a costume in a ballet performance) as the Liaison.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, to me it was (again) a struggle to write it, but also a great joy.

Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival haiku invitational

Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival

Good day my dear visitors,

Every year in Vancouver (Canada) there is a wonderful festival, the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival, to celebrate the 40.000 cherry trees of Vancouver coming in bloom. It's a great festival, although I have never been there, celebrating the Cherries.
Every year during the festival there is a Haiku Challenge to write haiku about Cherry Blossoms and Cherry Trees and of course their beauty. I have participated in that, so called Haiku Invitational,  several times. It's lovely to write haiku about Cherry Trees and their beauty. And in 2010 my haiku won a honorable mention in the International category.
When you will participate in this Haiku Invitational you have to write two haiku about Cherry Trees, Cherry Blossom and all other themes on Cherries. Maybe it's something for you my dear visitor. Try and write a haiku or two about Cherries and contribute them to the Haiku Invitational 2012. Look for more information on the website of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival.

I have contributed my haiku for the Invitational today ... maybe I win this time ... if not ... doesn't matter I love to write haiku and share them with the world.

Another Cherry Blossom haiku, not one of the two I have contributed to the Haiku Invitational, but just a new one. If you will contribute to the Haiku Invitational ... than you may contribute only not published haiku.

The Haiku Challenge, day 5 "acrostic haiku"

Day 5 – February 5th – Theme: 'Ur' Choice - Form: Acrostic Haiku

I had never heard of the "acrostic haiku", but on Deviantart I discovered an article by Mattiello about this form of poetry.
It is a form in which I have never wrote a haiku or another poem, so this was really a challenge to compose this one for day 5 of The Haiku Challenge. I am glad that the theme isn't prescribed, only the form. Well ... let's go than. Here is the first Acrostic Haiku I ever have written.

For this acrostic haiku I have used the words POETRY for the acrostichon and EAST for the liaison.

Why I used the words Poetry and East?
Haiku is poetry and of course my passion and because haiku is a Japanese form of poetry. (The Far East)

It took me a while to compose this Acrostic Haiku because I am not familiar with this form of haiku. Well ... it did work out ... after a while and I am proud on this Acrostic Haiku.
