Haiku Heights April Challenge, day 29 "Poet's Choice"

Day 29 Poet's Choice, nice to see you all again here. Maybe some of you have read the haiku which I contribute for today's Poet's Choice, but the most of you I don't think have read this one.
I have contributed it to The Lenten Haiku Journey of Terri/Cloaked Monk and love to share it here with you all. Today is day 29 we have still one day to go and than this Haiku Heights April Challenge will end.
So see you all next day ... the last day of our April Challenge.

dark wintertime
searching for new life
snowdrops bloom

snowdrops bloom
no one can see them right now
a dark winter day

a dark winter day
finally regaining sight
I can see snowdrops

I can see snowdrops
finally spring has come -
dark wintertime

Almost Spring

Departure of winter. It's almost there Spring the season of new life, glorious blossoms, lovely young green leaves, lambs, young birds and so on. Spring is one of my favorite seasons, but I am a great fan of autumn. I have written a few new haiku on spring.

fading moonlight
caresses the fragile blossoms
finally spring

finally spring
the cold dark winter says his farewell
clump of snowdrops

clump of snowdrops
beneath the fragile cherry blossom
fading moonlight

I hope you enjoyed the read :-)

Haiku Heights, Fate

Another Haiku Heights Saturday. Today the theme is Fate. Not an easy one I think so, but I have to try.

winter departs
the fate of bare branches
getting in bloom

getting in bloom
the cherry tree in my garden
it's her fate

it's her fate
the changing of the seasons
winter departs

Until next week ... for another Haiku Heights ... than the theme is 'childhood'.

Sincerely,

The Poetry Pantry, new haiku

For Poets United, the Poetry Pantry:

A new series of haiku. Well ... finally my country (The Netherlands) have winter weather. Strong frost and snow fall. So at last winter has come to the Low Lands. So I thought to write a few haiku on snow ...

first snow of the year
covers fragile blossoms
tears in my eyes

such a sad event
young cherry blossoms frozen
in a cold spring night

Credits: Cherry Blossom in Snow

And at last another haiku, but this one is inspired on a well known haiku by Matsuo Basho:

autumn evening
a crow perched
on a withered bough

I wrote:

is that a crow
in the bare branches?
it's just black plastic

I loved doing this again of course and looking forward to your comments on this series.

Sincerely,

in white silk

a lonesome stray cat
in the old barn

lost in the field
only stars as my compass -
cry of a snowy owl

making love
in front of the fireplace
finally home

The Purple Tree House invitational for haiku prompt "Christmas and New Year"

I am honoured that the purple tree house has invited me to join their haiku challenge. They have given the prompt "Christmas and New Year" to write a haiku about. At their site, on the theme haiku, they have published a nice article about "how to write haiku".

They enclosed already an award and season greetings.

So here a few new haiku inspired by The Purple Tree House prompt:

dreams become true
this Christmas eve at last
a White Christmas

snowflakes whirl -
in front of the old church
the Tree of Light

this New Years day
after the wonderful fireworks
nothing has changed

yesterday's wind
on New Years Eve
still the same

As you can see. These haiku aren't in the classical way written. I write my haiku in an old classical style known as Kanshicho. In this style one can use another scheme of syllables. So many of my haiku have schemes of syllables such as 4-4-4 or 4-9-5 syllables and not the classical 5-7-5. This Kanshicho style was once an idea of Basho (1644-1694) a well known haiku master.

and a Happy New Year
